Expert Advice

I often compare the wear and tear on your denture to tires on your car. We at Dentures by Denturists offer 3 different quality of denture teeth ranging from standard to precision – which all wear at different rates (much like tires on your car). Better quality denture teeth will last much longer than standard quality. Generally speaking, dentures should be replaced at minimum every 10 years, however, if patients choose a lower quality, their dentures will consequently wear out sooner. We make every effort in making your new dentures fit and be as comfortable as possible. However it is not uncommon to develop pressure points and sore spots. These if left untreated can make the dentures feel very uncomfortable. If you find you have a sore spot and it last for more than 48 hours you should call the office to book an appointment. A minor adjustment can bring added comfort in a matter of minutes. Adjustments are an important part of the treatment process and in the overall success of your new dentures. Dentures by Denturists includes all adjustments in the cost of your new dentures and we encourage you to call as adjustments are needed.

At Dentures by Denturists we create your new dentures to be as natural looking as possible. Our specialty is to make dentures that everyone would be proud to wear. No two dentures are alike and are specifically made for each individual. At Dentures by Denturists, we involve each patient in choosing the smile they crave. Along with Jaro, you will be involved in selecting the correct size, colour, and shape of the teeth that appeals to you. Each tooth is carefully placed and ideally positioned. You will then have the opportunity to see how things look and give your final approval at the try-in stage before finishing your dentures. This ensures you are happy and satisfied with your smile. The final step is completion of your dentures in our in-house lab.

Your first step is to call Jaro and book your free consultation to assess your options. Consultations are always free of charge at Dentures by Denturists. At your first appointment you will meet with Jaro and discuss all treatment options. We will be happy to provide you with estimates and even send pre-determinations to your insurance company to find out exactly what your plan covers for dentures. The next step is to make a great impression! Accurate impressions of your mouth will be taken to ensure your denture fits perfectly. You will then meet with Jaro for the next couple weeks (2-4 appointments) to complete your new smile. Adjustments are always included at no charge for as long as you have your dentures. However; adjustments are not always needed. Jaro is always willing to see you to ensure you are totally satisfied at any point after you receive your new smile.

A dental implant is an artificial tooth root that is placed into your jaw to hold a replacement tooth or denture. Dental implants may be an option for people who have lost a tooth or teeth due to periodontal disease, an injury, or some other reason. Dental implants can be a huge benefit to patients that have lost some or all of their teeth. Dentures by Denturists always offers free implant consultations. Call Jaro and his team to see how dental implant can bring back the joy of eating what you want, not what your dentures will allow.

NO! Dentures, in general, have many common concerns associated with them. First, many patients complain of difficulties with fit, sliding, sore spots, and problems speaking adequately. Second, dentures only allow patients to produce a fraction of the chewing force as with real teeth. Implant supported dentures can alleviate many of these problems. They have been shown to increase chewing forces anywhere from 60- 200% in comparison to traditional dentures. Many of our patients who have implant supported dentures find that they now enjoy mealtime more, taste food better, and no longer have to worry about not being able to eat harder foods. Call Jaro for your free implant consultation today or inquire about our next free implant seminar.

Cleaning your new dentures can be done with a non-abrasive toothpaste and a soft bristle brush, soap and water, or a denture soak. Jaro recommends NovaDent Denture Soak which is safer for all types of dentures including soft liners and implant parts. The antibacterial formula of NovaDent works continuously for a full 7 days, kills 99.9% of bacteria and viruses, and will help keep your dentures clean without brushing. Partial dentures are designed to fill spaces between natural teeth for people who are missing teeth in their mouth. When people are missing back teeth, chewing can be difficult and they will try and compensate and chew food with their front teeth causing more damage to their natural healthy teeth. Replacing missing back teeth creates an even chewing surface for proper function. Having a partial denture also helps with preventing natural teeth from drifting. Come in and see Jaro to discuss how a partial denture could benefit you.

A denture reline involves taking an impression of the patients existing oral tissues (gum and ridge). This procedure is done when a denture no longer fits snugly or becomes loose. This can happen when a person has bone resorption (which happens naturally with tooth loss), teeth removal or has weight gain or loss. A portion of acrylic in the existing denture is removed and replaced with a new layer of acrylic which will reline/refit the denture and create a tighter, better fit. The appearance of the denture does not change. Relines should be done every 2-4 years and are done in the same day. Come in to discuss with Jaro and see if relines would benefit you.

It is highly recommended that your dentures be removed while you sleep at night. Removing your dentures gives your oral tissues (gum and bone) a chance to breathe and your jaw a chance to relax from the pressure of wearing dentures. Taking your dentures out at night can prevent sore spots. You should never wear your dentures for more than a 24 hour period without a proper oral hygiene routine. Bacteria love warm, dark places which can develop under your dentures if not removed daily. Dentures should be cleaned by hand with a soft bristle brush and some dish soap and after rinsing thoroughly stored in a denture bath during the night. Call Dentures By Denturists today to inquire about Novadent, a great soaking solution for cleaning your dentures.

Getting new dentures, whatever the type, can take practice and patience to wear. Your tongue, cheeks and lips will be more active while getting used to the idea of having something in your mouth. Learning to chew food again can take several weeks. When you first get your dentures, start with soft foods and cut your food into small pieces. Trying to bite with your front teeth may cause the dentures to move. Sore spots can develop but your dentures can be easily adjusted to make them fit more comfortably. Sore spots are very common and are often expected. In time you will find that your dentures fit securely and you will feel confident with them.
